New halfway house lights up Alcanada

30 June 2017

Golfers at Club de Golf Alcanada can now enjoy the spectacular views of the Mediterranean in style after the prestigious Mallorcan course officially opened its new Lighthouse Bar.

The award-winning club in the north of the island is situated in one of the most scenic locations in Europe but has now unveiled its newly-built Spanish-style stone halfway house, by the 10th tee, allowing golfers to enjoy the breathtaking scenery at their leisure.

Visitors and members will be beaming as they as they take in the views across the Bay of Alcudia towards the iconic lighthouse, in which the club takes its name, while they treat themselves to some quality, freshly-cooked food and a range of hot and cold beverages to prepare themselves for the testing back nine.

Alcanada de Golf’s director of Golf, Kristoff Both said: “We have always been proud of our five-star golf course and this halfway house adds to the experience and offers golfers the chance for a range of tapas dishes and a drink, while enjoying first-class customer service and stunning views of the famous lighthouse and Mediterranean Sea.

“We are always looking to improve every aspect for our visitors and our wonderful new Lighthouse bar will prove to be another welcome addition to what is already regarded as one of the best courses in Europe.”

More than €250,000 has been spent on upgrading its facilities and the award-winning course, which has been voted the best in Europe by visitors to 1golf.eu seven years running, and golfers can also now benefit from the club’s new deal with Honma.

The pro shop will stock the premium golf clubs, along with the TaylorMade brand, and offer custom fitting on certain days with the support of the Honma team. Honma, a Japanese company that was started in 1959, is looking to expand its operation and Club de Golf Alcanada becomes the third course in Spain to sell the well-respected brand.

This follows Club de Golf Alcanada’s move to install of a state-of-the art defibrillator, while they also announced a three-year contract with TagMarshal, a revolutionary play management system, which is designed to speed up play.

Alcanada’s 7,108-yard, Robert Trent Jones Jr-designed course has won a steady stream of awards since opening 14 years ago, and is recognised by the golf industry as one of the finest venues in Spain and Europe and is a member of the prestigious World of Leading Golf collection.

In addition, the club boasts a centuries-old Mallorca clubhouse, which first-class dining facilities on a sunbaked terrace, while its newly-built Lighthouse halfway house and comprehensive Golf Academy, including a spacious short-game area and covered driving range, is also available.
