Gleneagles announces prize fund increase for 2019 International Pro Am

30 October 2018

Gleneagles, the world-famous Scottish hotel and sporting estate, has announced a major prize fund increase for its 2019 International Pro Am, an event that mixes luxury hospitality with competitive golf across its three Top 100-ranked championship courses.

The four-day festival of golf (July 23-26), staged the week after The Open at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland, will see 24 teams, comprising three amateurs and a Pro, play for a total prize pool of £30,000 – a 60% increase from 2018 – with the winning PGA Professional receiving £8,000.

The International Pro Am is a unique tournament, affording guests an outstanding sporting challenge across The King's, The Queen's and The PGA Centenary courses, and blending exceptional golf with luxury accommodation and some of Scotland’s finest food and beverage experiences.

Since opening its doors in June 1924, and set beneath the Ochil Hills in the heart of Perthshire, 'The Glorious Playground’ has been the must-go destination for travellers for nearly a century and is currently ranked the 'No.1 Golf Resort in the UK & Ireland’ by influential journal, Golf World magazine.

Gary Silcock, Director of Golf at Gleneagles, commented: "The continued growth and global appeal of the International Pro Am has allowed us to significantly increase the prize fund for 2019, a special year in which we host The Solheim Cup and also commemorate the centenary of our James Braid-designed King's Course.

"It is encouraging to see that we are already close to confirming a sell-out international field for the fourth staging of this exciting annual event which continues to prove so popular for golfing groups and partners from home and abroad, and a host of PGA club professionals."

This year's event included celebrity guests from the world of sport, including European Tour winners, along with pro-am teams from Scotland, England, USA, United Arab Emirates, Russia and The Caribbean.

2019 packages include a four-night stay in Sovereign Room accommodation, including a full Scottish breakfast, drinks reception and welcome dinner, post-tournament prize dinner and presentation, and daily use of the on-site range at The PGA National Golf Academy. Non-playing resident guest rates and non-resident packages are also available.
