Kaua‘i Golf Courses Earn ‘Golf Digest America’s Greatest by State’ Distinction

24 July 2017

Princeville Makai Golf Club and Poipu Bay Golf Course are “Golf Digest 2017-18 Best-In-State Golf Courses”, a distinction bestowed in the August 2017 issue of the magazine based on expert ratings completed during the preceding 12 months.

Golf Digest “America’s Greatest” panelists review thousands of courses annually prior to judging them in seven categories. A score from each of the reviewed areas – shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, condition and ambiance – are averaged and aggregated to arrive at a course’s final tally and ranking.

“We’re proud to be home to some of Hawaii’s finest courses, and pleased to see that several other Kaua‘i courses are equally deserving,” said Sue Kanoho, Executive Director of the Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau. “Many people think that Puakea, Wailua and the Ocean Course at Hōkūala are worthy of best-of honors as well. We invite golfers worldwide to visit and judge for themselves.”

Nicknamed the Garden Isle for its lush tropical foliage, waterfalls and omnipresent Pacific Ocean scenery, Kaua‘i is perennially recognized for its beaches, outstanding courses, ideal playing weather and pervasive natural beauty.  Brilliantly authored by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Princeville Makai (St. Regis Princeville Resort) and Poipu Bay (Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa) exemplify the stunning views and exceptional golf found on the island.

Golf Digest raters confirm what golfers who admire Hawaiian golf have long known – that Kaua‘i is a special place with unique qualities, an amazing oasis where playing the game is unforgettable, and after-golf activities are equally astounding.
