Dining Award Places Baja Peninsula Destination in Prestigious Company

For the second consecutive year, the luxurious Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at The Islands of Loreto has been awarded Wine Spectator magazine’s prestigious “Award of Excellence.”

With an inventory of 400 bottles of wine, Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at the Islands of Loreto’s  Danzante Fine Dining restaurant earned the Wine Spectator recognition for its impressive selection of 132 different wines at moderate prices that provide the perfect amount of flare and flavor when paired with the restaurant’s fresh, authentic cuisine.

As part of its “2017 Restaurant Wine List Awards,” Wine Spectator noted Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at the Islands of Loreto’s signature dining establishment was singled out for its “large selection of quality wines from around the globe, including exciting choices from Baja.” In addition to local varietals from Baja, Danzante carries some of the finest wines from the United States, France, Italy, Chile, and Argentina. The carefully selected wine list includes labels such as Santo Tomas, Monte Xanic, Vino de Piedra, and Valle de Guadalupe.

“It is very exciting to be honored by Wine Spectator for our outstanding cuisine,” said Sixto Navarro, general manager, Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa at the Islands of Loreto. “We are dedicated to giving our guests world-class dining experiences at all three of our restaurant settings. Our menus and service reflect that dedication.”

The Wine Spectator honor comes on the heels of the resort recently earning “Mexico & Central America’s Leading Resort for 2016” from World Travel Awards.

Danzante offers a classic atmosphere and a memorable culinary experience. Devoted to fusion cuisine made with seafood, fresh fish and fine cuts of meat, Navarro said the flavors of the world mix together in a dazzling array. In addition, the resort also features:

  • The Market, a casual, open-air buffet. The Mediterranean meets America meets Mexico at an eatery where visitors can choose from a range of menu options. International a la carte items are also featured. The restaurant offers both inside air-conditioned and al fresco seating.
  • Casa Mia, the scenic poolside dining venue. With stunning views of the Sea of Cortez and Sierra de la Giganta mountains, Case Mia offers everything from brick oven pizzas, tacos, sandwiches, salads and more. Enjoy the Italian Corner menu from 6:00 – 10:30 nightly.

Villa del Palmar takes full advantage of the region’s unique beauty, authentic culture, quiet beaches, scenic vistas, rich history, and natural habitats. Besides Villa del Palmar’s three outstanding restaurants, guests can roam the resort’s 4,447 acres of unspoiled beauty, which showcases stretches of exquisite shoreline, with stunning ocean and mountain views. The resort features five swimming pools, the 39,000-square-foot Sabila Spa, tennis courts, and miles of hiking trails.

Unforgettable recreation experiences at the resort include sport fishing in an area known for its marine wildlife, which includes 900 species of fish in an area that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, plus Danzante Bay Golf Club, the eye-popping new Rees Jones-designed course on the Baja Peninsula’s eastern coastline.

Only a two-hour flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Loreto International Airport (LTO) also is accessible with direct WestJet flights from Calgary and from Tijuana via Calafia Airlines (three times a week year-round).
