New Midweek UK Flights Help The Costa Cálida Soar

17 June 2019

The new Region de Murcia airport in Corvera is ready to break the 1m barrier with a host of new European flight routes opening up the region for an influx of holidaymakers.

New direct flights have recently been added to the schedule with three new arrivals on Wednesdays during the summer season. Ryanair has started operating a new flight from London Stansted, while Jet2 is now offering a service from both Leeds-Bradford and Manchester on the same day into the brand new airport.

With regular flights already also operating from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Luton, Leeds-Bradford, Glasgow Prestwick, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Bristol and Manchester, it means British tourists can make their holiday plans with ease to enjoy the many diverse attractions of a Spanish region which continues to grow in popularity.

It’s not just Brits who will see the benefits with fellow Europeans also able to take advantage of new services from Prague, Warsaw and Mallorca, while a new winter route to Billund in Denmark is also now scheduled.

It means around 1m seats are available into the region for the summer months, which should provide a major boost to the tourism sector.

The UK continues to be the strongest market for Murcia with more than 400,000 visitors in 2018 (around 41 per cent of the total number of tourists to the region).

A spokesperson for the Instituto de Turismo de la Región de Murcia, said: “We are now seeing the benefits of the new airport’s extra capacity and we look forward to welcoming more guests to the region in the future.”
