About IGTWA
The International Golf Travel Writers Association (IGTWA) was established in 2000
in order to bring together the world's leading journalists specialising in writing
quality golf travel articles, Golf Photographers and Golf TV journalists.
The IGTWA is administered by IAGTO - the global trade organisation of the golf tourism
industry - which provides IGTWA members with excellent access to golf destinations,
golf resorts, courses, hotels and other golf travel suppliers in addition to specialist
golf publications worldwide.
Activities
IGTWA can participate in press trips to golf destinations worldwide. They receive
weekly news broadcasts from the golf tourism industry and receive
press releases from across the globe. Every July, IGTWA members are responsible
for voting for the Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year Award.
Organisation
The IGTWA is administered by the staff of IAGTO. The Honorary IGTWA President is
Jussi Jaakonkari, a Finnish Freelance Golf Journalist based in the United Kingdom.
In 2010 Jussi was nominated Honorary Life President of IGTWA. His predecessor from
2005 to 2007 was Dan Poppers. Dan had followed in the footsteps of Anne Harper,
who oversaw the development of IGTWA from 2000 to 2004.
