Journalist Miroslava Dulova from Slovakia joined participating golfers from Germany; Sweden; Lebanon; South Cyprus; Turkey and the U.K. for the 2nd Festival of Golf Week ( 21-28 September) at the newly branded name of Korineum Golf and Beach Resort in North Cyprus.
The Under Secretary of Tourism (Mr Şahap Aşikoğlu), Culture and Environment was in presence at this biggest golf tournament week in North Cyprus together with local and foreign press from Germany (Claudia Rehart) and Slovakia (Miroslava Dulova). A practice day followed by 4 consecutive days of competive golf, with an impressive 39 Ladies playing in the Ladies Individual, 78 Men in the Men’s Singles 116 and 118 Golfers playing in the two pairs competitions respectively - leading to an impressive total of 351 competive golfing rounds.
The Price Giving Cocktail Reception hosted by Korineum took place in the newly constructed Reception and Lobby area.
Meryem Çerkez ( Resort Co-ordinator) thanked Lyndsay Davies (Sales & Marketing) together with all those involved in co-ordinating and running the event. The Clubs Captains John Torris and Özcan Bundak together with the Club’s General Manager - Umut Gürtunç; Vice President Dr. Hacer and Club’s President Dr. Gunay Çerkez all presented the relevant Trophies to the worthy winners. A special note about the awarded Trophies. All were hand made from olive trees with ceramic made by a local ceramics master making each Trophy unique and one of a kind.
Dr. Gunay Çerkez in his address looked back over the development of Korineum since opening in 2007. Each year the Resort continues to expand its facilities. Last year the spectacular Carob Island restaurant opened it’s doors; this year together with the Lobby expansion Korineum Beach has been opened. Followed by the most recent addition of ‘Loggerhead’ Sports Bar. Tennis courts are presently being built to add to the sports facilities on offer.
Everyone agreed on the terrific expansion Korineum Resort has made to date offering members and visitors alike such wonderful experiences to remember.
Guests moved outside onto the velvet greens to a 4 course Gala Dinner with entertainment from Latino Turco to dance the night away after a tiring but extremely enjoyable week of golf! All to repeated again next year from 23rd September 2013!
