Torino Golf Destination heading to Orlando

20 January 2020

With the 44th Ryder Cup heading to Italy in 2022, the country's golfing profile is in the ascendency - and, to help wave il Tricolore, Torino Golf Destination is joining an Italian delegation at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, next week (January 21-24).

The four-strong Torino Golf Destination (TGD) offers 108 holes and highlights some of the very best golf available in the country, with Circolo Golf Torino - La Mandria, Royal Park - I Roveri, Golf Club Biella - La Betulle, and Golf Club Cavaglià all within just a 50km radius, thus providing a perfect destination for a break combining golf, relaxation and culture.

What's more, two of the four - Royal Park - I Roveri and Golf Club Biella - La Betulle - were placed in Italy's top four golf courses in a recent top 100 European courses ranking, issued by a leading UK magazine, while Circolo Golf Torino - La Mandria is also in the country's top 10.

Torino Golf Destination board member Marco Aquilino believes the Orlando show is the perfect springboard from which to engage with US markets and to meet with golf and travel media, and tour operators.

He explained: "Obviously many American golf fans will travel to Rome for the Ryder Cup, but with Turin (Torino) a little more than an hour away on an inexpensive flight, many will be tempted to head to Piedmont, which has a good selection of some of the country's best - and most historic - golf courses.

"What's more, the city of Turin is also a tourist attraction in its own right, with the Turin Shroud, some of the country's top museums, world-renowned architecture, beautiful piazzas and historic cafés, and the unique Borgo Medioevale in the popular Parco del Valentino, as well as being home to Juventus, la Vecchia Signora of Italian soccer, and FIAT, one of the largest automobile companies in Europe."

The refined and elegant city of Turin, in the region of Piedmont, is also renowned for its industry, Baroque architecture and dramatic scenery. And a visit would not be complete without a visit to the viewing platform at the top of the Museo Nazionale del Cinema (National Museum of Cinema) - an excellent attraction in its own right - which provides stunning views of the city and mountains beyond.

Packages start at €295 per person, for a two-night B&B break at the Golf Hotel Cavaglià, and include unlimited green fees at Golf Club Cavaglià, plus one green fee at another TGD member club; a welcome cocktail; 30 balls on the driving range; access to gym, tennis court and swimming pool; and two hours in the spa.

Ahead of the PGA Show TGD has appointed Azalea as its PR, marketing and communications agency to raise its profile in UK, Irish and German-speaking DACH markets.

Azalea director Andy Barwell said: "The Torino Golf Destination group offers wonderful golf in an often under-valued part of Italy and we are looking to hit the ground running in order to raise the profile in these markets.

"Initially, we're keen to hear from tour ops or media who would be keen to meet with TGD representatives in Orlando."
