Carton House, a Fairmont managed hotel awarded five-star hotel status by Fáilte Ireland

Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, has been officially recognized as a five-star hotel by Fáilte Ireland. This classification signifies that the property meets the highest standards of quality attainable as part of Fáilte Ireland’s Hotel Classification Scheme.

The classification follows the unveiling of an extensive two-year, multi-million euro renovation which was completed in the summer, bringing Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, back to the heights of its great house splendor.

Carton House is of Ireland’s most historic country houses and was built over 300 years ago as the home of the influential and aristocratic FitzGerald family. The property is now proudly owned by the American-Irish Mullen family, and in 2021 became a Fairmont Managed Hotel, joining over 80 Fairmont hotels around the globe as the oldest property in a collection famed for its grande dame hotels such as The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in London and The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in New York City.
