Niagara Falls, Ontario – Niagara Parks has announced that LPGA golfer Brittany Marchand from Orangeville, Ontario, has become an ambassador for Niagara Parks Golf, helping to create content for its social media channels, while acting as a role model for the golfers that Niagara Parks hopes to reach. The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 4, at a gathering of over 70 women at the Whirlpool Golf Course, one of over 900 events celebrating Women’s Golf Day in 52 countries around the world.
“Niagara Parks has embraced the global celebration of Women’s Golf Day for several reasons. We believe that women represent a vastly untapped audience when it comes to growing the game of golf,” stated Niagara Parks Chair Sandie Bellows. “Niagara Parks Golf is pleased to announce this relationship with LPGA golfer Brittany Marchand. She is a true role model, showing students and especially young girls that it is cool to love and study the areas of: science, technology, engineering, math and to pursue careers in science and professional sports that are traditionally dominated by men.”
When Brittany Marchand was being recruited by American universities, she made it clear that she wanted to study chemical engineering while playing NCAA golf. While several schools told her that she couldn’t be a varsity athlete while undertaking such a rigorous academic program, she persisted and found a home at North Carolina State where she graduated in her chosen field in 2014. Now in her second season on the LPGA Tour, Marchand is working to encourage young athletes to pursue their dreams in sports and education. She is an ambassador for Golf Canada’s Future Links Golf in Schools program and has thrown her support behind Let’s Talk Science, a Canadian charitable organization committed to building youth interest in science, engineering and technology.
“I want to show young people that it is definitely possible to do it all; to play a sport that you love and pursue your academic dreams at the same time,” said Marchand. “I’m big on school and I’m big on promoting the game to young people. It takes hard work and discipline to follow your dreams, but wherever you find your passion, if you stick to doing what you love, and if you work hard, anything is achievable.”

Team Canada veteran Brittany Marchand of Orangeville, Ontario, is in her second season as a member of Golf Canada’s Young Pro Squad. The 26-year-old is coming off a banner year which saw her make 13 cuts in her maiden campaign on the LPGA Tour, including a career-best T7 performance at the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Marchand has been a staple with the Team Canada program, entering her seventh season after joining the Junior Squad in 2011. In her young career as a professional, Marchand has collected wins at the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada and the PHC Classic—a Symetra Tour event.
