Saadiyat Beach Golf Club poised for the start of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open

08 January 2019

Troon managed Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is ready for LET event Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open which starts this week

The highly anticipated Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open (FBMLO) returns to Saadiyat Beach Golf Club this week (10-12 January). With the countdown to the first tee times now on and the course at Saadiyat in pristine condition, the club is ready to welcome Ladies European Tour players and fans to this standout event on the women’s golf calendar.

After recently hosting the inaugural Abu Dhabi Amateur Championship event, which saw tough scoring conditions for the amateurs in attendance, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club promises an equally challenging course for the ladies, with fast and slick greens in fantastic condition.

This year boasts the strongest players that Saadiyat Beach Golf Club has seen for the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open, with countless LET winners fighting it out on the coast of the Arabian Sea for $300,000.

Aditi Ashok will look to retain her position as reigning champion as she returns to Saadiyat Beach poised for a second victory. She will not have an easy run, however, as she is set to come up against the likes of Beth Allen, the winner of the event in 2016 and Catriona Matthew, the winner of the Ladies British Open in 2009; to name a few. The competition this year will be fierce, and it will be a tough event to call, with so many players having the potential to rise and become victorious.

Ed Edwards, General Manager at Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, commented: “The Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open is the headline event at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, and is one that we all look forward to greatly throughout the year. The format of the event this year is particularly exciting and will see the professionals playing with their amateur partners throughout the tournament. This unique Pro-Am format will be something that will create once in a life time experiences for all the competitors.”

For all spectators coming to see the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open or the later Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship Presented by EGA, there is a plethora of opportunity for them in Abu Dhabi this new year. Visitors will not only be able to watch and enjoy these great golf events but can also choose from one of five luxury 5* beach hotels on Saadiyat Island and experience the amazing culture that Abu Dhabi has to offer, including Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Yas Island attractions.
