Onyria joins IHG's luxury portfolio - a new chapter for Cascais

10 April 2025

The Onyria Group, owner of two hotels and a Trent Jones Snr golf course in Cascais, Portugal, has announced a partnership with industry leaders IHG Hotels and Resorts to rebrand and refurbish its Portuguese properties.

The partnership with IHG is a franchising agreement, meaning the ownership and management of both hotels will remain under the responsibility of the Onyria Group.

Under the agreement, the group’s flagship hotel – which sits just half an hour from Lisbon Airport and is home to an acclaimed par-71 Robert Trent Jones course – will become Kimpton Quinta da Marinha Cascais, joining the globally renowned Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants portfolio. The rebrand will come into effect in early 2026 following renovations throughout the property’s 198 rooms, three restaurants, spa and other amenities.

Meanwhile, the existing Onyria Marinha Boutique Hotel and selection of stunning villas will combine to form the Onyria Marinha Cascais – Vignette Collection ahead of the upcoming summer season. As IHG’s brand focused on independent luxury hotels with unique character, the Vignette Collection is a natural fit for the serenity and beauty of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

An investment totalling €5m in renovations, interior design and rebranding will take place in the coming months as the venues transition.

While IHG Hotels & Resorts lends global brand recognition and a stellar reputation for world-class hospitality, the Onyria Group and Pinto Coelho family will retain full operational control of the properties, and the respective management teams will continue their award-winning work at both rebranded hotels.

João Pinto Coelho, CCO of the Onyria Group, said: “We believe that the IHG brands are perfectly aligned with our vision of preserving the cultural heritage of our destination and product, while offering authentic and unique experiences.

“This partnership makes perfect sense for the Onyria Group as it brings us global recognition, access to over 145 million IHG One Rewards members, and an elevated luxury experience for all our guests.”

Earlier in 2025, the Onyria Group confirmed the acquisition of beloved French resort Château des Vigiers, which includes 65 opulent rooms, a 27-hole Donald Steel golf course, a state-of-the-art spa and a Michelin-starred restaurant.
