Costa Brava hotels set for late 2021 surge

07 June 2021

Golfers looking to step up their search for a sunshine break later this year can take advantage of some fantastic opportunities to explore the Costa Brava.

Located 100km north of Barcelona and surrounding the historic city of Girona, the region boasts seven golf clubs and nine varied 18-hole layouts to suit all levels of abilities and experience.

With overseas travel expected to return to somewhere close to normality as the year progresses, there is a wide variety of accommodation and options to choose from to make the most of the easing of restrictions.

Among the many inviting options, Torremirona Relais Hotel Golf & Spa sits alongside a fabulous par-72 course, full of lakes, tricky bunkers and undulating greens to test all aspects of your game.

Almost half of the 49 rooms were renovated in January 2018, while there are also two types of apartment (one or two-bedroom, each with their own private terrace).

The hotel facilities are extensive and the Spa Dubhé is the ideal place to reinvigorate and relax after the round with jacuzzi, sauna, Hamman massage and bi-thermal showers. A traditional Mediterranean restaurant, a lobby bar and spectacular terrace to enjoy the mild evenings also add to the experience.

Based in the north of the region, there is also plenty of local interest with Figueres – the hometown of Salvador Dali and the incredible museum – while picturesque villages Cadaqués and Besalú and beautiful beaches and bays are waiting to be discovered. And with the nearby high-speed train station taking you to Barcelona in less than an hour, one of the world’s great cities is also on the doorstep.

Among the packages available is a five-night stay in a double room, including breakfast buffet, dinner and three rounds of golf at Torremirona Golf, which is available here: www.hoteltorremirona.com/en/getaways

For those eager to balance a beach break with a fantastic golf course, La Costa Golf Beach Resort is the perfect combination with its unique twin attraction.

Set in an incredible landscape, the course winds its way through hundreds of centennial pines acting as natural corridors to such an extent, you may never realise that the beach is quite so nearby.

And the hotel is equally close with 122 rooms and 54 suites and direct access to both the beach and golf course just a few steps from the hotel grounds – the only hotel in the region with both golf and the beach at the same location.

Alongside several excellent dining options within the hotel, a wealth of watersports take place from the sandy beach with an especially inviting pool for some relaxation and sunshine. And just a few minutes away from Girona, there is plenty of culture and history to explore too.

There are several tempting packages – one which includes one round at Golf de Pals and one on either of the nearby courses Golf d’Aro or Golf Empordà – based on two sharing and a bed and breakfast basis.
