European Tour Destinations primed for golf travel recovery following latest rankings reveal

26 October 2020

Four European Tour Destinations feature in the top ten of Golf World’s new Top 100 Resorts in Continental Europe ranking, with the superb Terre Blanche Hotel Golf Spa Resort in France earning top spot for the third time running.

The influential list, released this week, has recognised 11 European Tour Destinations in total, including, for the first time, Bulgaria’s Pirin Golf and Country Club (no.74).

Ian Knox, Head of European Tour Destinations, said: “The performance of our venues is testament to the world-class experiences they deliver to customers both on and off the golf course.

“Golf World’s Top 100 rankings are an important benchmark of excellence and we strive to help our venues gain recognition.

“Despite golf travel constantly changing this year, we’ve helped our venues be adaptable and take steps so that when the market does start to return, they will be go-to options for customers seeking tournament-quality golf and industry-leading service and amenities.”

Also in the top ten of the rankings are PGA Catalunya Resort in Spain at no.3, Portugal’s Quinta do Lago at no.5 and Verdura Resort on the Italian island of Sicily at no.7.

Finca Cortesin Hotel Golf and Spa in Spain, recently announced as the host venue for the 2023 Solheim Cup, is at no.11, while Le Golf National in Paris, France, the scene of Europe’s emphatic Ryder Cup victory in 2018, is at no.21.

Mallorca’s Arabella Golf, the newest venue in European Tour Destinations’ prestigious network, was ranked at no.33, with Diamond Country Club in Austria leaping 19 places to no.69.
