Romanian Golf Association (RGA) with the support of Audi Romania, organized the first Audi Quatro Golf championship in Romania.
The winners from this tournament will participate to the final international Audi Quatro Cup that will take place in Kitzbühel, Austria, between 23rd and 27th of September.
The tournament in Romania, took place on the 28th of July at Theodora Golf Club situated 10 minutes away from Alba Iulia, the first 18 holes professional golf course in the country.
Over 120 golf players mostly from Transylvania and Bucharest participated to the event, playing in teams of two, “Greensome” format.
This playing system involves that both players hit a ball from the tee, then they choose the best positioned one and the player whose ball was not chosen, makes the second hit, and so on until the hole is finalized.
“This tournament was the most important golf event that the Romanian Golf Association had organized so far, and we are proud of our partnership with such a valuable brand as Audi as well for the exceptional playing conditions offered for the first time in our country, by Theodora Golf Club, a private own investment made by a golf passionate, the owner Mr. Ioan Popa. We hope that this will only encourage other investors to initiate & finalize golf investments near Bucharest and all over the country. Prizes given: net 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, brut: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin, Division Ladies and Gentleman
Net category winning teams:
· 1st place: winners of this first edition in Romania, Viorel Opaiţ and Marius Şcuta, 47 points, and 14 team HCP
· 2nd place: Bogdan Jigman and Cătalina Jigman, 47 points and 13 team HCP
· 3rd place: Nicolae Capuşan and Bogdan Căpitan ,46 points and 19 team HCP
· 4th place: Mihaela Pal and Simona Băltăreţu, 43 points and 25 team HCP
1st place was tied by the score on the back nine
Brut category winning teams, with the fewest strokes:
· 1st place: Nicolae Kovacs and Adolf Baclea, 35 points, 8 HCP, one stroke over the course par
· 2nd place: Dinu Pescariu and Val Dănescu, 35 points, 2 HCP, one stroke over the course par
· 3rd place: Florin Vinersar and Cosmin Limbean, 34 points, 5 Hcp, two strokes over the course par
Longest Drive Men (at hole 18) Mr. Zoltan Nagy Bege, Longest Drive Ladies (hole 3) Mrs. Mihaela Pal.
Nearest to the Pin Men (Hole 8) Marian Lepădatu – 2.97 m from the flag.

After the golf tournament, participants had enjoyed test drive with the newest Audi Models, Audi A8 and A7, also with SQ7, A5 Coupe and Q5. Another premiere in Romania, was the presentation of Audi Q8, the newest member of Q family, a luxury SUV, along with Audi R8 & TT.
