Telford Hotel & Golf Resort's playing professional, Luke Towler, goes in search of a ‘golden ticket' next month (April 4-6), when he participates in EuroPro Tour qualifying in Oxfordshire.
If Towler, 28, makes the cut at Frilford Heath GC, he will be entitled to play in every event on the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour this year.
And he comes into the event off the back of a solid finish to last season which saw him win the Midland PGA Championship.
The resort's head of golf, Matt Robbins, said: "We're all keeping everything crossed for Luke in his quest for a regular starting spot on the EuroPro Tour - the first step on the road to making a career as a Tour professional. He has the potential to do it, we really believe that - but there are so many factors which can influence a round of golf, and there's no second chance in qualifying.
"If he makes it through he'll then need to find some sponsors to help him cover the expenses of competing in every event. Everybody thinks life as a golf professional is glamorous, but living out of a suitcase and making ends meet can be really hard. But, of course, the potential rewards are what drive on people like Luke. We wish him all the best."
