Spain’s ‘Golden Coast’ shows offs its diversity to enhance future relations with tour operators in the region to drive new business

Costa Daurada, Spain’s ‘Golden Coast’, teamed up with The Costa Daurada Golf Association to enjoy a very successful 2019 International Golf Travel Market, as they headed up over 40 meetings with tour operators from all over the world at the four-day event in Marrakech, Morocco.

The demand for meetings not only shows off the popularity of the region, it also highlights Costa Daurada’s ability to create new relationships with tour operators, as it continues to develop and find new ways to maintain the region’s glowing reputation with both local and foreign tourists.

The International Golf Travel Market is the only global gathering of industry travel professionals and offers golf destinations, resorts and courses the opportunity to showcase their products to highly qualified tour operators.

Costa Daurada met with operators from over 16 countries and showcased the diversity and unity of the area with the presence of two world class golf clubs from the region, Lumine Mediterranea Beach and Golf Community and Club de Golf Bonmont – who were not only representing themselves, but also there to highlight the appeal of Costa Daurada as a whole.

Lumine is the venue for The European Tour Final Qualifying Stage, which has been held over the Lumine Lakes and Hills courses since 2017, while Club de Golf Bonmont also prepares to host The European Tour Qualifying School Second Stage in November.

Marta Farrero, Costa Daurada Tourist Board Director, commented: “It is fantastic to be able to attend this year’s International Golf Travel Market in Marrakech. It presents us with an excellent opportunity to work alongside our partners within Costa Daurada and to meet and showcase some of the region’s most exciting golfing breaks to new prospect tour operators.

“Our record of working with operators from around the world is second to none and we are constantly looking to form new partnerships so that we can drive new business into Costa Daurada and increase our golfing audiences in the region.”

Spain’s ‘Golden Coast’ extends for a total of 216km and attracts, on average, 5.5 million visitors per year. It is famed for its mixture of long golden beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, as well as the ample amount of ancient history such as the Roman ruins in Tarragona, which is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
