Golfers close in on Race's Portuguese finish line

28 August 2018

More than 3,000 European club golfers have signed up for Clubs to Hire’s Race to Quinta do Lago as they look to cut their handicap and win a place in the grand final in Portugal.

And all they have to do to be in with a chance of making the trip in November is to reduce their handicap by 10 per cent before the end of September. But, it’s not as easy as it seems, as only 65 golfers have reached the target so far.

Clubs to Hire co-founder, Tony Judge, explained: “Every year golfers of all levels set themselves handicap targets for the golfing season. We decided we would reward 24 dedicated and lucky golfers who achieve a 10 per cent reduction in their handicap with a trip overseas.

“And, while 10 per cent may sound relatively straightforward for the keen golfer, it’s a lot harder than it seems. The 60-odd golfers who have achieved that aim already are now in with a really good chance of heading to the world renowned Quinta do Lago, in November.”

The competition – in association with Irish Golfer magazine and retailer American Golf – is open to all golfers who hold an official and regulated golfing union (or similar) handicap and the 24 lucky winners drawn from all qualifiers will have their handicap verified by their home club.

The prize includes 18 holes on the championship South Course at Quinta do Lago, a night’s accommodation at the four-star Magnolia Golf & Wellness Hotel, complimentary club hire courtesy of Clubs to Hire, a gala dinner and prizegiving, use of the practice range and complimentary buggies.

Clubs to Hire handles more than 300,000 annual visits to its website and more than 80,000 bookings for rental clubs at 27 locations worldwide, including popular golfing regions in the USA, Thailand, Australia, South Africa and five countries across the Mediterranean, offering the latest clubs on the market, from leading brands such as TaylorMade, Callaway and Mizuno – for men and women, left- or right-handed – from just €35 per week, a potential saving of up to €125, with none of the hassle.
