Ten minutes away from Argentario Golf - venue of the Italian Open next June

13 January 2025

January 7th 2024. IAGTO brand new member LA ROQQA is a luxury boutique hotel and beach club, a contemporary retreat in the Tuscan village of Porto Ercole. The perfect place to start exploring the natural beauty of Argentario and the Tuscan Maremma, where golf (to be played all year round for the pleasant climate) is one of the main actors, with five challenging courses inspired by a  lush nature. And then, boat or bike excursions, diving, food and wine tastings and historical sites to be visited.

  • Argentario Golf Club is just ten minutes away from LA ROQQA, venue of the DP World Tour Italian Open 2025 (June 26-29) and the only Italian PGA National course. A testing layout in a protected natural area, with spectacular holes overlooking the Orbetello Lagoon and the see, tight fairways, uphill and downhill shots, woods and bushes all around, with water just enough. (Argentario Golf Club)
  • Golf Club Punta Ala (89 km) is a gem. 60 years old, the course lies in a panoramic site with a view on the sea, nestled in the middle of the Tuscan Maremma evergreen vegetation, among bushes, cork oaks and majestic maritime pines. (Golf Club Punta Ala)
  • Golf Club Toscana Il Pelagone (89 km). A classic Tuscan landscape. Holes are designed on gently undulating hills, where olive trees and towering cypresses play their role in the game. Not long, but requiring accuracy to avoid the many water hazards. Greens are a real test, very fast with multiple breaks. (Golf Club Toscana Il Pelagone)
  • Riva Toscana Golf Club (102 km). The Gulf of Follonica is few steps away and the picturesque Maremma all around. Surrounded by thick olive groves, every hole is challenging: technical dog-leg par 4, demanding par 3, long uphill or downhill par 5. From the 13th tee the best views on the Elba Island. (Riva Toscana Golf Club)
  • Terme di Saturnia Golf Club (60 km) is deep in the countryside. The demanding 18 holes, designed by the archistar Ronald Fream in the woods (a protected area), are GEO certified and the famous thermal water is used once a week on the fairways to keep them perfect. (Terme di Saturnia Golf Club)

ABOUT ARGENTARIO AND LA ROQQA HOTEL
Covered in fragrant Mediterranean maquis, olive groves, citrus trees, bougainvillea and jasmine, Argentario is a world apart, made even more magical by the lagoon that separates it from the mainland, where flamingos skim across mirror-like waters.

With 50 rooms, the property overlooks a breathtaking landscape where the Mediterranean panorama blends with the charm of a vibrant local community and its millennia-old history. The privileged location, just steps from the sea and the lively Porto Ercole, makes LA ROQQA the perfect fusion of luxury, sustainability and Tuscan tradition. The aesthetics of the structure have been reinterpreted with a contemporary touch, while staying true to the historical and cultural roots of the area. The custom-made furnishings, enriched with iconic pieces from the '60s and '70s, evoke the glamorous atmosphere of the era when Porto Ercole first began attracting the international jet set. Isolotto Beach Club, part of LA ROQQA, stretches along an entire bay just steps from the hotel.

LA ROQQA is part of the Considerate Collection of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), a curated selection of luxury properties that meet the highest standards of sustainability and community engagement.
