China Voted the 2007 Golf Destination of the Year

China has been voted “2007 Golf Destination of the Year” for the regional category of Asia & Australasia at the 2007 International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) Awards in association with Hertz.

Zhang Xiao Ling, Executive Vice President & Secretary General, China Golf Association (CGA) applauded: “I am thrilled to see that golf in China, although with only a short history of twenty years, has fast become one of the major destinations for international golf tourism and come out on top in the regional category of Asia & Australasia as the best performing golf destinations enjoyed by golf travelling clients. The esteemed award presents our country with a unique opportunity to raise our profile as an exceptional golf destination even further and brought us to a new horizon.”

On behalf of China Golf Association, Tenniel Chu, Executive Director of Mission Hills Golf Club in China, the World’s No. 1 Golf Club received the award from Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO at the Awards Gala Dinner in the Palacio de Congresos in Estepona near Marbella in Andalucia.

“It is my great honour to receive the prestigious award on behalf of the CGA. The award is a result of the collaborative effort of China’s leading golf clubs in delivering the best golfing experience to golf travellers in the China.
